Statement of Values

The ministries of the Life First-supported centers in Manassas, Warrenton and Woodbridge are performed with these values in mind:

1. CENTRALITY OF THE GOSPEL

Because every person is sinful and separated from God, and the only hope for both this life and the life to come is in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we seek every opportunity to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this through words of truth and deeds of mercy to those facing unplanned pregnancies, to men and women who have been harmed by abortion, and to individuals needing encouragement to live a chaste life.

2. IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER

Because God has commanded us to make our needs known to Him in prayer, and because He has promised to hear our requests and to answer our prayers in accordance with His will, we commit every aspect of the ministry to prayer and seek every opportunity to pray with and for clients, volunteers, staff, board members, churches and pastors.

3. SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE

Because each individual is created in the image of God, all human life is sacred and to be protected from the moment of conception. In the ministry of the pregnancy center, we emphasize protecting the unborn while caring for men and women involved in crisis pregnancies. We believe there is a life affirming resolution, including marriage, single parenting and adoption, available for every crisis pregnancy.

4. BIBLICAL STANDARD OF CHASTITY

Because God has ordained marriage, has blessed sexual relations within marriage, and has forbidden sexual relations outside of marriage, we seek to uphold the biblical standard of chastity as expressed in abstinence for single persons and fidelity for married persons.

5. ROLE OF THE FAMILY

Because God ordained the family and gave the responsibility for the care and training of children to parents, we seek to uphold the role of parents in the lives of their children. Therefore, we encourage clients to make wise plans for their own children and to seek the wisdom, help and support of their parents in planning for the future. In addition, we encourage clients to consider marriage and the establishment of a family as one God-honoring solution to a crisis pregnancy.

6. PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Because God holds each person accountable for his or her own actions and decisions, we encourage all with whom we have contact in ministry to accept personal responsibility for their actions and decisions and to rely on God for the grace to bear the consequences for past mistakes and the wisdom to make God-honoring choices in the future. In addition to dependence on God, we encourage a healthy self-reliance by encouraging work in center programs, in the home and in the larger community. As a ministry, we practice accountability through our membership in, and adherence to the standards of, Care Net, Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), Heartbeat International and other related organizations.

7. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CHURCH

Because God has established the church to care for and minister to His people, we encourage all with whom we have contact in ministry to maintain a close relationship with a local church. In addition, we seek every opportunity to serve the local church and to partner together with local pastors and congregations in the ministry of the gospel.

8. THE COMMUNITY

Because God has ordained governments and has placed each person in a larger community; we seek to establish positive working relationships with both the public and private sectors of the larger community to be a resource for them and to make appropriate referrals on behalf of our clients. We always seek to operate within the letter and spirit of laws applicable to our ministry.
